Volunteers from American National Bank spent time at Food Bank for the Heartland helping out by sorting 2500 pounds of apples! The volunteer team consisted of Teri Suput, Emma Mills, Matt Stoner, Kelsey Holo, Hali Allen, and Matt Hinesley. We encourage all employees to build stronger communities by offering Volunteer Time Off (VTO) hours. We believe that, through a strong community, everyone prospers together. Here is what our employees have to say about volunteering:
- "I like to volunteer with the Food Bank of the Heartland because I know how hard the company as a whole works to give back to the community. Most specifically the BackPack program they have for children in school who may not get any food on the weekends. It allows them to have something to eat when most people probably don’t realize there are a lot of children in need in Omaha specifically! It’s just an overall great company to volunteer my time." - Emma Mills
- "When we volunteer to work a shift at the Food Bank, we are helping to package donated food for distribution. Our latest group from ANB volunteered for a work shift on a Thursday afternoon. We were given the task of sorting apples and loading them into 5 pound bags. Our team of 6 volunteers sorted through 2500 pounds of apples and prepared 400 bags for distribution. These apples then went out to food pantries the next Saturday. Whether it is handling produce, labeling cans, or loading backpacks; it is always rewarding to know that our work helps get food to those in need." - Matthew Stoner
- "I was shocked to learn how people in our community are “food insecure” when we live in a country with such an abundance of food. I was particularly drawn to the Food Bank by the back pack program where we create weekend food packages for young kids. Whether I am filling back packs, packaging noodles, or bagging produce, I find the Food Bank a fun and easy way to give back to the community. I always enjoy the opportunity to mingle with co-workers that I normally wouldn’t see." - Matt Hinesley
