Seniors learn about scams, identity theft and smart money management

Here is what we presented to the seniors the week of April 16th:

Tuesday , April 17th – Scam Alert - Learn about current scams that come from emails, phone calls, your mailbox...and even a person knocking on your front door. Be able to identify scams and avoid them.

Wednesday, April 18th – How to Manage Your Money - Learn tips on how to manage your money. Also learn about your options for bank accounts and how to find the right financial institution.

Thursday, April 19th – Preventing Identity Theft – Learn how to avoid identity theft and find steps you can take to better protect your finances.

We had a packed room for the three sessions – about twenty seniors participated in the hands-on activities and worksheets. We have dedicated cbkc staff who always volunteers to help Sarah Cousineau present at Don Bosco: Virg Spino, Vickie Mormino and Michelle Visos. Channel 41 also came while we were presenting and here is a link to that story. While we were talking, it became clear that we should come back soon and talk about credit reports and scores. We’ll be scheduling another session this summer with that topic.

Central Bank of KC is a small community bank that is passionate about helping the community become smarter about managing their money. We present many sessions at senior centers, schools, community centers and more all year long, but especially in April in conjunction with Money Smart KC.
