LAMP Project Underway
Central Bank of Kansas City Helps in Restoration Efforts
by Sarah Cousineau
There is rich history on the corner of Linwood and Michigan right along 71 Highway. That’s where Linwood Presbyterian was built in 1923 serving a congregation of 2,200. Over the years, the membership had dropped to less than 350, and the church was sold in 1979. But in 1995, Heartland Presbytery bought the property for its preservation. Many attempts have been made since then to restore this historic landmark. Now, finally the restoration and renovation of the church and the Harold Thomas Center has begun with a target completion date of spring 2015. Many agencies were involved in obtaining the financing and support needed to start the $10 million project, which will convert the historic church into a neighborhood services complex called LAMP - the Linwood Area Ministry Project. Central Bank of Kansas City is proud to be a part of this historic urban project that will provide much needed services to the community.

Prepare to be Scared
by Sarah Cousineau

If you are serious about Haunted Houses and haven’t visited The West Bottoms of Kansas City, then you are missing four great haunts.  Here is what Elvira from the Travel Channel said:

“On Kansas City’s west side is one of the most unique haunted venues I’ve ever had the displeasure of visiting. The KC West Bottoms area is made up of several late 19th-century buildings that were just made to be haunted houses! This “village of the damned” has 4 -- count ’em 4 -- epic haunts: The Beast, The Chambers of Edgar Allan Poe, Macabre Cinema and the granddaddy of ’em all, The Edge of Hell -- each one is a unique, must-see experience for haunted house afflict-cianados.” -- Elvira, Mistress of the Dark

Read on to see descriptions of all four haunted houses in the West Bottoms.

by Sarah Cousineau

Tonight, all KC fans will be watching the wild card game – a one-game playoff between the Royals (89-73) and the Oakland Athletics (88-74), at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium. It will be broadcast on TBS, and 610AM. This is the team’s first playoff game since 1985. Unless you are 29 years old or older, you will only have heard stories about the 1985 series in which the Royals won the World Series.

James Shield(14-8) will be pitching for the Royals and Jon Lester(16-11) for the Oakland A’s. The Royals have a great pitching staff that will support Shields. The Royals went with the lineup they've been using the past few weeks, with speedsters Alcides Escobar, Nori Aoki and Lorenzo Cain at the top of the order. The winner of tonight's game will advance to face the Los Angeles Angels in the division series starting on Thursday. Click here for the roster for tonight’s game. Let’s Go Royals!
