I hope you and your family are staying healthy and had an enjoyable summer.  Ours included a free Humboldt Crabs baseball game and barbeque for employees and families; our Employee Appreciation Picnic attended by nearly 300 adults and their kids, debuting Live Chat, and welcoming a new vice president to the management team.

Nomination Packets for Volunteer Positions Available

Three positions on our volunteer Board of Directors and one on our volunteer Supervisory Committee will soon be up for election or re-election.  Each position is a three-year term and begins following our Annual Meeting on 2/16/23.  Individuals interested in running are required to be Coast Central members in good standing for at least 4 years and should request a nomination application packet to:  Nominating Committee, CCCU, 2650 Harrison Avenue, Eureka, CA 95501.  Completed applications are due by 5 pm on Thursday, 10/13/22.  Nominations may also be made by petition.

If you represent a business or organization and want to receive a ballot for the election, you must complete a “Business/Organization Authorization to Vote” form, which can be obtained by contacting Administrative Executive Assistant Angelique Humphers at (707) 445-8801, ext. 1329 or via email at ahumphers@coastccu.org.  Completed forms must be received by the Nominating Committee at the address above by 11/23/22 to qualify.


 
Welcome, Vaughn Peterson!

CCCU welcomed Vaughn in August as our new VP Information Systems. He brings over 20 years of information technology experience, most recently as Chief Technology Officer at Cyprus Credit Union in West Jordan, Utah. He is responsible for all technology areas, ensuring the highest level of network security and compliance for all systems, increasing related efficiencies, and overseeing a team of 11 employees. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Cyber Security from the University of Maryland University College and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Science degree. Vaughn said, “I was drawn to make the move because of CCCU’s reputation as a great organization to work for, the strong management team, and its beautiful location.”
 
Congratulations, Fred Moore!

VP Chief Financial Officer Fred has been promoted to Executive Vice President, working closely with President/CEO James Sessa to lead and manage the credit union. Fred has a total of 35 years of financial institution experience and has been with Coast Central for over four years. Prior to joining CCCU, Fred was Senior VP - Chief Financial Officer at Redwood Capital Bank/Bancorp, working with a team to launch the organization in 2003. Fred was born and raised in Humboldt County, the fifth generation member to do so, and is a CPA and a Business Administration graduate of Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt).
 
Volunteer of 2nd Quarter

Crystal Mattox
Mortgage Loan Services Specialist

Crystal is one of those caring volunteers who always seems to step up when you really need someone.  During 2nd quarter, she volunteered over 20 hours for six non-profits, including Food for People, McKinleyville Little League, Arcata High, and equityarcata's Home Away from Home.  Last quarter she also took time to donate blood and volunteer on a cold February morning at the Trinidad to Clam Beach Run.  In addition, Crystal has a group of three other employees she recruits on a regular basis to help.
