Named One of Massachusetts’ 2018 “Top Places to Work” by The Boston Globe

Our employees have spoken again! Guess who is named one of the top large employers for 2018 in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe? That’s right, WE ARE!!! At the 2018 “Top Places to Work” reveal reception held at The Grand Boston in the Seaport district and hosted by The Boston Globe. This is the second consecutive year EBSB was selected as one of Massachusetts’ 2018 “Top Places to Work.”

When asked “What do you attribute to the bank’s growth to $5 billion in assets?” Without hesitation our Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Gavegnano says ”Our people. The hard work of our people. In my experience, top workplaces are where people work together well, understanding that what they do is worthwhile. At EBSB we provide valued banking services through our retail branch network; services that individuals and families need. And with our robust lending and corporate banking business lines we are an economic engine for Boston’s neighborhoods and greater Boston itself. Service to our external customers is matched by service to each other, as our efforts are supported by operational and administrative departments. I’m proud of our employees and what we accomplish together.”

The 11th annual Top Places to Work survey honors employers who care for their most valuable resource: the people who work for them. The survey, published online at, measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement. Those businesses earning a spot in the Top Places to Work share several key traits, including offering progressive benefits and creative perks, allowing the flexibility needed to have good lives both at work and at home, embracing the diverse backgrounds of their employees, and offering a promising future to all of their workers.
