Everything we do, we do for you

It's exciting to become acquainted with First Central members everyday -- especially when it is your job. Meet Senior Member Service Representative Maria Cruz. She has the pleasure of overseeing the member service department and making sure things are running smoothly. “I want our member’s needs to be met to the max,” Maria said, “nothing makes me happier than to hear someone say they received the best service at First Central Credit Union.” After all, she reminds everyone daily that everything we do, we do for you.

Maria enjoys learning new things and taking things day by day. This has proven to be her formula for success.  She began over seven years ago at First Central as a part-time teller. After six months she was selected to become a full-time employee. “As a member service representative you are responsible for knowing a little bit  about everything, and a lot about most products and services we offer,” she said. In January 2017, Maria was promoted to assume the responsibilities of retiring Lana Kapavik.  “I enjoy every aspect of the new position and being back at the Sanger branch location,” she added. Many members know Maria from her time spent working at both the Sanger Avenue in Waco and Chapel Road in the Woodway-Hewitt area locations.

You may know her as a local. Maria grew up in McGregor, Texas and graduated from the “Home of the Fighting Bulldogs” -- McGregor High School. When we say “grew up” we mean -- she played post on the Lady Bulldogs high school basketball team. She was also in the Spanish and Yearbook Clubs. Maria acquired a good work ethic early on working at the community grocery store during her high school years.

Fast forward -- you’ll find Maria enjoys scrapbooking adventures shared with 10-year-old daughter Ahliah and 3-year-old son Juliahn. “Creating memories with my family is my favorite past time,” she said. “We enjoy traveling to Zacatecas to visit family, and spending summer vacations in Port Aransas,” described Maria, “and last but not least we love going to rodeos!”  However at work, she added, “I just want to be able to say I am the reason someone smiled today.”
