Nearly A Teenager: Happy Birthday First Liberty Bank
A Message from Joey Root, President & CEO

October 2, 2018 will mark the 12th anniversary of the opening of First Liberty Bank. It is hard for me to believe it.

It seems like only yesterday we were walking through the former Jackie Cooper BMW dealership wondering if we could turn it into a bank branch that that would make our owners proud. For those of you who go back to the beginning, you will remember that we laid some carpet down in the old service bays at the back of the building and opened for business with 6 people. The very first person to come into the bank and open an account was…. (drumroll please) – Mr. Marty Grooms. It took us about 3 days to get the account opened as we were working on a brand-new system that none of us had ever used before. Thanks for your patience, Marty – and for still being a great customer after all these years.

Check out the growth we have experienced since our first year in business:

                                    12-31-2007                   Today

Total Assets                 $47    Million              $408  Million

Total Deposits              $34    Million              $373  Million

Total Equity                 $11.3 Million              $35.2 Million

I will be forever thankful to my fellow founders – Barry Switzer, Hunter Miller, and Toby Keith – for placing their faith in me and believing in the idea for First Liberty Bank. Their support has been both unwavering and critical to our success.

I am also very thankful our original Executive Management Team is still together and contributing every day to the success of our company. Sandy Bracken, Chief Financial Officer, Tammie Garrison, Chief Treasury Officer, and Tammy Boatman, Chief Credit Officer are three bright and dedicated ladies, and they have been involved in every important decision that we have made since starting the company.

I am thankful that we continue to place such importance on serving others. When we describe our culture at First Liberty Bank we have a saying: “We bend over backwards to serve the relationships we establish.” You will notice the difference if you come into our lobby or meet one of our staff members.

Finally, I am thankful that our leadership team recognizes how fortunate we are to be in this great country, in the great state of Oklahoma, and in the great City of Oklahoma City. We show our gratitude for this good fortune by providing time and resources to worthy charitable and civic organizations in our markets.

So Happy Birthday to you First Liberty Bank. Only one more year and you will be a teenager!

Please don't hesitate to contact me at 405.608.1903 or jroot@myfirstliberty.com if there is anything I can do for you.

Best regards,

Joey P. Root

President & CEO
