Club 50 Hits the Big Time!
by Connie Braceland

It’s Big Trips update time!

To Hawaii we say Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much)! We have just returned and, I don’t say this often, but that’s one place I would visit again! My fellow Club 50 travelers and I will try not to rub it in that we missed the snow, the winds, and the rain you had here while we were enjoying the balmy 80s in Oahu, Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Kauai. But we couldn’t resist sharing a beach photo -- see our “Featured Photo”!

As for our other big trip this year, our Northern Italy Tour, we are sold out on our single room accommodations, but we still have opening for twin accommodations. If you’re going to come with us September 19-30, this is the month to let us know! Reservations close in May.

And for 2017? We recently met with our Advisory Board, and after reviewing dozens of proposals for a half-dozen possible big trips, we’ve narrowed it down to two. Sorry to be so secretive, but we can’t announce just yet!

Maybe a future trip will become a future “Forever” stamp: Have you been following this month’s announcements from the United Postal Service? Acadia National Park is the first of the service’s 16 new stamps of national parks that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. We know it well! The photo is of Karen and me during Club 50’s wonderful time there in June 2014. Certainly the other 15 will include other national parks we have enjoyed on our Club 50 trips – in fact, as of press time, they announced the Grand Canyon, as well as Haleakala National Park in Maui.

In the meantime, please see details this month on our June and July plans: May 5 is first-day sign-up for James Taylor at Tanglewood July 4-6 (see “Club 50 Opportunities”) and May 31 is first-day sign-up for Boston Duck Tour June 28 (see “Save the Date”).

Additionally, if you want to make a last-minute decision to get in on Mount Washington Hotel & Resort May 9-11 or Hudson River Valley June 12-14, give us a call and we’ll be happy to see if the hotels can accommodate more of us!
