I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together …
by Karen Condor

Just another “day at the office,” with Club 50 member Phil Ste. Marie … at the Dun Aengus prehistoric fort on the Aran Islands in County Galway, Ireland!
Hello, Club 50! Of course you have heard of the “travel bug,” because, like me, hundreds of you have it – and Connie and I are so thankful for that: because of you, we get to experience so many great places every few weeks!

But I also picked up the “moving bug” a few decades ago, and it’s time to jump into a new challenge in a new part of the country: I will be leaving WSB, Club 50, and New England in October when my husband Tom and I move to Greenville, South Carolina, y’all!

We traded our native Pennsylvania for sunny Southern California in the late ‘90s, and then came to Massachusetts a dozen years ago … so why not give the South a try?

The main reason? Family. I am thrilled to have recently reconnected with my brother and his loved ones, who live in the Greenville area. And Tom is thrilled to “reconnect” with not having to shovel snow!

So this is for a life change and not for a job change, because I am going to greatly miss working with Connie, one of my top managers of all time. I cannot say enough good things about this upbeat, wicked smaht lady! I’m also going to miss having fun with too-many-to-mention Club 50 members and their guests, as well as the variety that comes with being the Club 50 Assistant: You know that you are never going to be doing the same thing every day!

And I’ll miss the trips … of course! So many highlights: The Badlands of South Dakota, Pike’s Peak in Colorado, sitting in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir audience in Salt Lake City, a clear-blue-sky Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park (twice!), New Orleans, a rodeo in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, climbing Moro Rock in Northern California … and finally crossing the Atlantic for my favorite trip of all, Ireland.

So thank you, thank you, thank you, Club 50. I will treasure these trip highlights … and I have also picked up a few life lessons from all of you: always know where the bathrooms are(!), never forget to bring a bottle of water and snacks, it’s OK if your hair frizzes in the rain/humidity/any reason, and you never know what treasures you’ll find in the gift shops. But most of all? Always, always have FUN!

It’s true that there’s an exception to every rule: Club 50 doesn’t like to repeat trips, but last year’s NYC overnighter received such an overwhelming response (and a long waiting list) that we’re happy to offer this memorable trip again this year!

Island Escape!

Helen Hoffmann (left) and Josephine DiMambro are happy to beat the heat -- and enjoy a gorgeous view from the epic Aquinnah Cliffs on the Wampanoag reservation -- during Club 50’s July day trip to Martha’s Vineyard. We had a fabulous local guide who also gave us a chance to get up-close with the Oak Bluffs gingerbread cottages and take in Edgartown history, shopping, and great seafood!
